RM of Gravelbourg’s story
The Rural Municipality of Gravelbourg No. 104 sits in the southwest part of Saskatchewan. Its roots go back to 1908, when a local improvement district was established for the area. On December 9, 1912, that district became the rural municipality, and the RM's office is in the town of Gravelbourg, which the RM surrounds.
The land is shaped by the Wood River and Notukeu Creek. On Thomson Lake, near Thomson Lake Regional Park, is the lake resort of Gaumond Bay. The localities of Bateman and Coppen lie within the municipality.
The RM holds seven sites on the Canadian Register of Historic Places: St. Elizabeth Mission, Bateman United Church, the Baker Homestead Site, Eason's Grove Site, Wamsley Bridge Site, Trapper's Cabin Site and Cripple Creek Crossing Site.
